Funerals at St Mary’s Blairs

It is the custom of the Roman Catholic Church that funerals for deceased Catholics takes place in the church of the parish in which they resided.

Families of former parishioners, and other Catholics, who were not parishioners of St Mary’s Blairs and who would like to have the Requiem Mass or Funeral service of their deceased relative celebrated at St Mary’s Blairs should seek permission from Fr Mark Impson, Parish Priest, before any arrangements are completed with Funeral Directors.

St Mary's Blairs does not charge a fee for the use of the chapel for a funeral, but asks that a donation be made to the Blairs College Chapel Trust which goes towards the ongoing maintenance of the chapel building and grounds. Currently donations in the order of £250 are requested. From 1st October to 31st March, a donation in the order of £400 is requested to cover the additional cost of lighting and heating. Those making donations are also encouraged to complete a Gift Aid form in favour of the Blairs College Chapel Trust.
